Red Wine has been performing live since the early eighties and has performed all over the state of New Mexico, parts of Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and Texas. Red Wine plays for a variety of events, such as, Weddings, Graduations and Private parties. Red Wine also hosts and headlines an annual New Year’s Eve Party at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, downtown Albuquerque, NM.
Red Wine is one of the only variety bands New Mexico has to offer. Their music is exciting and fun, ranging from Top 40, Old school, Oldies, Rancheras, Country and Cumbia’s. Red Wine has many influences such as; Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, Stevie Wonder, Little Joe y La Familia, Selena, Diana Ross, Elvis Presley, Wynonna Judd, George Straight, Pussy Cat Dolls, Usher, The Commodores, Pat Benatar, and Latin Breed.
Red Wine currently has 2 albums and 1 compilation Album. After 20 years, the band decided it was time for a new recording. This time it would feature the second generation, along with some of the original members. In June 2011, Red Wine had the opportunity to record the band’s 4th album with Engineer and Producer Gilbert Velasquez, a 9 time Grammy Award Winner from San Antonio, TX. With Gilbert’s expertise in the studio and Red Wine’s talent, the band recorded one of the best albums to come out of the state of New Mexico. The new album titled, “No Wine Before It’s Time”, featuring 2 original songs by Red Wine, “Titere” and “Tortillas”, will be released in early December 2011.
Red Wine consists of 10 members. Original Members: The Leader-Lorenzo “Lencho” Ramirez (Piano/Vocals), Gabe C’De Baca (Alto Sax/vocals), Mike Sandoval (Base/Vocals), Johnny Chacon (Guitar). Second Generation: Phillip Ramirez (Tenor Sax/Vocals/Piano), Lorenzo J. Ramirez (Drums/Percussion/ Vocals), Monica Elsa Ramirez (Vocals/Percussion), Andrew “Hurricane” Ramirez (Percussion/Vocals/Drums). Newest Member: Robbie Stephens (Trombone/Trumpet).
